Molybdenum

Molybdenum is an essential component of several major enzymes needed to metabolize fats and carbohydrates. It also helps regulate iron storage. Molybdenum deficiency in unknown in humans. Large doses (10mg or more) from supplements can cause joint stiffness and swelling, and gout-like pains. It can also inhibit proper bone growth.

Good sources of molybdenum include wheatgerm, rice, barley, lean meat, legumes, dark-green leafy vegetables, liver, kidneys, and whole-grain breads.
